Being Jewish is a balance of cultural practices, historical legacy, and an eternity of redefining and maintaining stereotypes — let’s be clear that you can’t blame someone for a healthy dose of self-deprecating humor and a love of bagels, lox, and the Sunday New York Times! While I may not partake in weekly religious observances, much of my personal identity is wrapped up in its traditions. But then again, as my dad would always say, “Ver vaist?” “Who knows?”
