Employment: Lake Union Boat Captain

Age: 73

Neighborhood: Queen Anne

When I was 13, I was studying for my bar mitzvah. I had ADD and dyslexia and I was under a great deal of stress. It was very difficult. So I decided to step away from Judaism, and from then on, it was not something that directed my life. Although if there is anything I love about the ethnicity of it, it’s the food. I do love Jewish food — blintzes, matzo balls, kugels. In my work as a boat captain, I meet people from all over the world, from all religions and all lifestyles. I respect all of them. I’m just here to do a good job, to make people happy, and to make a living doing it.
