What does being Jewish mean to you?

Name: Susan Lebow
Employment: Writer
AGE: 70
Neighborhood: Delridge/West Seattle
My parents, Lorraine Jaffe and Abraham Lebow, taught me to think of myself as a valuable citizen of the world and to look beyond my family, my community, and my country. They called it “having size.” I was taught that there are many kinds of wealth. Even more valuable than money are courage, compassion, empathy, whimsy, and generosity. I started Hate Free Delridge two years ago. Some amazing people joined me to create community and make the victims of hate crimes feel safe and loved. All of this is being Jewish to me. My mother said, “everything you do is Jewish.”
